Montgomery Wards Safe

I have a Montgomery Wards safe that was purchased late '70's. I know that the combination was not changed after purchase. Plate on front: Montgomery Wards 9042 Metal plate by hinge: Serial Number/Model 82-3574 We had not completely locked it for years and it got accidently locked after my husband passed away. I think 2 of the three numbers were 18 and 23, but I'm not sure what order, etc. I contacted a safe technician in Fort Worth and was told that it would cost a few hundred dollars for them to drill it and that it would not be any good afterwards. I don't want to destroy this safe because I can not replace it. Is there any help you can give me to get into it again. I have racked my brain trying to remember the combination but to no avail.
